The 2013 Asia Pacific Dance Festival reflects on the theme of journeys and the many journeys that we take in life, geographically, culturally, and otherwise. The dance companies in our featured concerts have taken these journeys and bring us a diverse selection of dance from their individual traditions as well as from a more contemporary viewpoint.
We are excited to welcome to the Kennedy Theatre stage New Zealand`s Atamira, Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA) and our own Hālau Nā Kamalei O Līlīlehua under the direction of kumu hula Robert Cazimero.
We pick up where we left off in 2011 with another wonderful weekend of dance from some of the most exciting and respected dancers and dance companies in the Asia and Pacific regions. Join us as dance of the Maori tradition are interwoven with austronesian dance of Taiwan and the award-winning choreography of Robert Cazimero along with the more contemporary look of Atamira and TNUA`s recent choreograpy.
The Asia Pacific Dance Festival is quickly becoming the premiere Festival of dance in the region and will continue that tradition with this series of performances.
