Professional Certification
The American Payroll Association has developed two levels of certification to recognize the levels of competency among payroll professionals. Upon completing the knowledge review contained in PayTrain Fundamentals, entry level payroll professionals may take the Fundamental Payroll Certification examination to earn the FPC credential. Individuals who pass the Certified Payroll Professional examination are recognized with the CPP designation for attainment of an advanced level of payroll knowledge and application skills. Payroll professionals planning to take the CPP exam benefit using the PayTrain Mastery program to complete a review of payroll competencies expected at the management level.

Course content reflects the general body of knowledge tested by APA; this course in no way guarantees success on the FPC and CPP exams. Students must use the most current edition of the PayTrain System (included in the course fee) and are strongly urged not to purchase used materials.

Continuing Education Certification
UH Outreach College provides a certificate of completion to participants who prepare for and attend 80% or more of class meetings in a course. Course certificates of completion summarize total course hours. The APA recognizes every 10 course hours as 10 Recertification Credit Hours (RCH`s). Previously certified payroll professionals who complete PayTrain Fundamentals can earn 30 RCH`s and certified payroll professionals who complete PayTrain Mastery can earn 36 RCH`s upon receipt of course certificates of completion.
