About the Program
Intense competition, limited resources, demanding customers, and a tight labor market make project management more complex than ever.
This series is ideal if you are: a director of project management, finance manager, project manager, process improvement manager, project management office manager, project team member, or candidate for the project management professional (PMP) accreditation. Utilizing the expertise of partner organizations Project Professionals, LLC and Orion Development Group, the Project Management Certificate series consists of three programs:
- Project Management Fundamentals (three one-day modules)
- Managing Project Teams (two-day seminar)
- Controlling Project Costs and Risks (two-day seminar)
While seminars may also be taken individually, without obligation, all of the above must be completed to earn the Certificate.
Project Professionals, LLC has presented Project Management Fundamentals with the University of Hawai`i since 2001. This three-day comprehensive program provides practical techniques for successfully completing projects within time, budget, and scope/quality constraints. Participants learn to initiate, plan, execute, control, and close a project, concluding with interactive discussion of the nine knowledge areas that support the project management methodology.
Orion Development Group has worked with the University of Hawai`i since 2004. Orion`s process management and project management programs are helping establish, sustain, and leverage management practices that yield long-term competitive success. Managing Project Teams focuses on developing high-performing teams, offering a practical understanding of human resource management and communications management knowledge areas as defined by Project Management Institute (PMI) in the PMBOKĻ Guide (2000). Controlling Project Costs and Risks emphasizes effective use of cost and risk management processes.,covering "Project Risk Management" knowledge areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOKĻ Guide, 2000 and practical uses of Earned Value Management (EVM) to measure and control project progress.
