Instructors

Billie K. Takaki Lueder, BA in English, holds a master`s of public administration from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She began her career at Bank of Hawaii in the Human Resources Division becoming a training specialist facilitating and developing curriculum for customer service and professional development classes for Bankoh employees. Most recently, she worked for three years with the Department of Education (DOE) at Kaimukī High School as the transition center coordinator working with students on career development and building business partnerships in the community.

During her time with the DOE, Lueder also managed a federal DOE grant, “Smaller Learning Communities for Kaimukī High School.” Eventually she became a co-grant coordinator for Cohort Three of the same federal grant overseeing implementation within eight Hawaiʻi high schools with a 2.5 million dollar budget. 

In addition, she was a project manager for the Angela Perez Baraquio Education Foundation overseeing state-wide character education training entitled “Eleven Principals Workshop by the Character Education Partnership.” This collaborative effort included working with the Character Education Division of the DOE as well as the Hawaiʻi Association for Independent Schools.

Lueder has consulted for Bank of Hawaii in the development and facilitation of a Professional Image class and with Kamehameha Schools Extention Services Division in the creation of a mentoring program for the Kamehameha Scholars Program. She is currently the educational outreach manager with the Hawaiian Humane Society offering various indirect and direct services to schools on humane education and service learning. Lueder is an advocate for character education and is a board member of the Angela Perez Baraquio Education Foundation.
