Created by African slaves in Brazil over 400 years ago, capoeira is a combination of martial arts movements, dance, gymnastics, music, and song. Explore the two main styles of capoeira: angola and regional. Topics include: basic capoeira movements; capoeira movement combinations; singing in capoeira – call and response; the capoeira roda; maculele – traditional Afro-Brazilian folkloric stick dance; and samba de roda – traditional Afro-Brazilian dance.
Elements of capoeira are suitable for all age groups and levels.
A Mestre of Capoeira of the Besouro School and trained in Brazil, Mestre Kinha is a master instructor of both children and adult students.
