The basis for any good film, documentary, commercial, or promo is how well the story is presented. Examine the process of how a story is put together. Regardless of the script, casting, direction, cinematography, sound and music, it really comes down to the final edit. Topics include basic rules of editing; what makes a cut interesting, entertaining and provocative; where and how to get ideas and inspiration; preparation and organizational tips; use of transitions, layered effects, multi-screen techniques, special effects, graphics and typography.
Class exercises utilize Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Photoshop but no prior experience is necessary.
This workshop is beneficial to all those interested in telling a better story, and developing new perspectives on how this can be done in editing including writers, directors, producers, and even editors.
