Apple`s iPad may be the biggest thing in computing since the PC. It`s compact, inexpensive, and multitalented - but it`s also an entirely different experience from a Mac or PC. Learn the best ways to use your iPad for work or play, what apps you can`t live without (and which ones you should avoid), what accessories will make your life easier, and whether you can get rid of your laptop and use only an iPad. Joe Kissell, author of "Take Control of Working with Your iPad," takes you from the basics right through to advanced iPad geekery in a single enjoyable afternoon.

Part 1 (60 minutes): Getting to Know Your First iPad
Whether you`ve just received an ancient, 2010-vintage iPad as a hand-me-down or picked up the latest feature-packed model, your first few months as an iPad owner are a time of discovery. What exactly can I do with this thing? Is it a tool, a toy, or both? Am I using it to its full potential? In this information-packed session, Joe begins with a quick tour of the iPad`s features and capabilities - with an emphasis on the less-than-obvious things that make it much more than a large iPod touch, and even better (in some ways) than a laptop. Then learn the nuts and bolts of customizing your iPad`s preferences, syncing personal information, and using the iPad for entertainment, communication, and day-to-day work.

Part 2 (60 minutes): Coloring Outside the Lines with Your iPad
Of course you can play tunes and games, watch movies, surf the Web, and run hundreds of thousands of entertainment and productivity apps on your iPad. But what makes this product even more exciting is that you can put it to all sorts of unconventional uses that can enhance your personal and professional life. This session covers interesting and novel ways to use your iPad that range from the playful to the powerful. Joe demonstrates how to run your business on an iPad, use the iPad as a remote control for nearly anything, perform stunning artistic feats, work around irritating network and media limitations, and much more. You`ll amaze your friends and confound your enemies with the tips, tricks, and techniques we cover here.

Part 3 (60 minutes): Living on a Desert Island with Only Your iPad
More and more people are ditching their laptops and using an iPad as their sole mobile computing device. That`s not as hard as it once was, but what if we took that to the extreme? You`re stuck indefinitely on a desert island (which, fortunately, has Wi-Fi and an AC outlet!) with only your iPad, and you have to do every single business and personal computing task with just that device. Can you pull it off? (Hint: Yes!) In this session, we look at some of the most challenging computing tasks and find clever, creative ways to do them with nothing more than an iPad.
