For everyone interested in writing for television, this two-day intensive workshop gives an overview of writing on a television staff, in-depth examination of writing an episode for a television series, and an opportunity to pitch and workshop students` ideas for a teleplay.

Day one covers the overall process of writing on a television staff and discussion and illustration of the story break process for a television episode.

Day two, students participate in a pitch workshop and receive feedback on their ideas for a television spec episode or original series pilot idea of their choice. Participants leave with a solid pitch for a viable TV series spec episode and clear direction in how to structure, outline and write the teleplay.

Maria Jacquemetton is a writer-producer on AMC TV`s critically-acclaimed television series, Mad Men, winner of the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series 2008, and two-time winner of the Golden Globe and WGA Awards.

Jacquemetton has worked at major Hollywood studios including Paramount, Universal, and Sony, as well as in the indie-prod world. She has been on staff, freelanced, and won screenwriting competitions, including the prestigious ABC/Walt Disney Company Writing Fellowship. As a two-year recipient of the Disney Fellowship in the feature film division, she was mentored by executives at Hollywood Pictures in the art of pitching, story development, and the script writing and revision process. One of the screenplays she wrote during that program, Billboard Dad, was the first project to come out of the fellowship`s feature film division ever to be produced. The family film stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, currently airs on ABC Family Channel, and has been novelized for worldwide publication.

With her writing partner, André Jacquemetton, Jacquemetton has written for some of the most well known television shows in history, including Star Trek and Baywatch, and popular action-adventure series such as Relic Hunter and Highlander. Jacquemetton`s writing journey has taken her from the breathtaking beaches of Hawai‘i to the far-flung reaches of outer space.

The Jacquemettons developed the original Hawai‘i-based pilot Almost Paradise for Industry Entertainment with actor Esai Morales attached. Although their work often requires them to be mainland-bound, they consider O‘ahu their true home.
