ENG 209: Business Writing – Training and Experience in Effective Communication
Summer 2 (online – $0 textbook-cost course)
This course is designed to offer students training and experience in business communication forms, including resumes, letters, emails, presentations, and reports.
By the end of this course, students will have experience in creating and analyzing resumes and cover letters; email, letters, and memos; and presentations such as meeting reports, web conference, and appropriate client interaction. Students will also work on evaluating job offerings and job boards from the positions of both a job-seeker and a hiring professional.
Students will have opportunities to tailor the course projects to their own fields of interest within business, including areas such as accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, human resources, management, international business, and marketing.
NO ADDITIONAL TEXTBOOK COST. Course materials will be free and accessible online.

About the Instructor
LynleyShimat Lys has several decades of experience working in the non-profit and for-profit sectors, including working abroad for international businesses. Ms. Lys has managerial training and experience, has worked as an independent consultant, and has served as a resume and job search coach. Other experience includes entrepreneurship, human resources, and publicity and marketing.
