Financial Aid for Summer Sessions Visiting Students
Contact the Financial Aid Office at your university or college for information about summer financial aid availability and procedures BEFORE registering for classes.
Some colleges and universities have financial aid Consortium Agreements with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. If you need the UHM Financial Aid Services to complete a Consortium Agreement form, fax the form to (808) 956-3985.
Financial Aid for Current UH Mānoa Students
Students receiving financial aid should contact the UH-Mānoa Financial Aid Office before registering for Outreach College campus classes, as your award may be based on enrollment on Mānoa campus only or your scholarship may not be applicable to Outreach College campus courses.
Financial aid applications for extension terms are processed manually, and delays should be anticipated. If your UHM financial aid is applicable to Outreach College courses and you will not be receiving your financial aid before your payment deadline for Outreach College courses, contact Outreach College, ochelp@hawaii.edu, (808) 956-7221 or toll-free at 1-800-862-6628.

Tax Credits
The U.S. Congress established federal tax credits for qualified college tuition and related expenses under the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997. Information about the tax credits as well as other education related tax credits can be found at this website (www.hawaii.edu/1098T) or by contacting your tax advisor.
All students, except nonresident aliens, who were charged qualified tuition and related expenses from January 1-December 31 will receive a 1098-T tax form. This form will reflect amounts billed (not paid) for qualified tuition and related expenses and amounts paid for scholarship and grants during the calendar year. The form will be mailed to your Permanent Address. To ensure receipt of this important document, update your Permanent Address on file at the UH-Mānoa Admissions and Records Office, Queen Lili‘uokalani Center for Student Services, Room 001.
Note: The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 requires the University to collect and use students' Social Security Numbers or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) to report qualified tuition and related expenses billed to students and scholarship and grant payments made to students to the IRS each year.
Tuition Assistance
Some financial assistance is available to qualified Outreach College students, including the following:
Employee or Spouse/Domestic Partner Tuition Waivers
These tuition waivers can be applied to Outreach College courses under certain conditions. A non-refundable, non-transferable $180.50 administrative fee is charged for each registered eligible extension term course.
See our Employee Tuition Waiver or Graduate Assistant Exemption web page for detailed instructions regarding these waivers.
Veterans Administration (VA) Benefits
Individuals seeking VA educational benefits (including certification) consult the VA Regional Office or the Campus VA representative, (808) 956-8010, before registering for courses. The VA does not offer educational benefits for all courses.
