Summer Sessions I & II Employee Tuition Waiver or Graduate Assistant Exemption

This is information for UHM Summer Sessions I & II Employee, Spouse/Domestic Partner Tuition Waiver and the Graduate Assistant Summer Term tuition exemption procedures. Click here to view Employee Tuition Waiver information for Extension Terms (4-digit CRN) courses.

IMPORTANT NOTES: You cannot process tuition waivers or exemptions for summer courses on MyUH. See the table below for instructions.

**University Board of Regents policy restricts registration to the late registration period. Late registration begins on the first day of the term or Varied-Date course and ends on the last day to register, as listed on the Course Academic Calendar.

Faculty/Staff or Spouse/Domestic Partners waivers or Graduate Assistant tuition exemptions cannot be used for registration completed before this period.

Certified forms must be received before the last day of the course 50% refund period. Refer to the online Course Academic Calendar for course specific dates. Forms submitted after this date will not be accepted.

Graduate Assistants: download the Graduate Student Tuition Exemption Request Form and review the information on the table below for filing procedure.

Employees (Faculty and Staff): download the UH Employee Waiver Form and review the information on the following table for filing procedure.

Eligible Spouse or Domestic Partners: download the Declaration of Marital Status or Domestic Partnership Form and the Employee Tuition Waiver form. Submit both forms. Read the IMPORTANT WITHHOLDING OF TAXES ANNOUNCEMENT BEFORE REGISTERING AND SUBMITTING THE FORMS. The Spouse/Domestic Partner Tuition Waiver is limited to University of Hawai‘i employees in units 07, 08, 87, and 88. Review the information on the following table for filing procedure.

Obtain certification from Department/Unit providing graduate assistantship

Eligibility Regular or temporary employees .50 FTE or more. Student Employees are not eligible. Graduate Assistants with .50 FTE for current academic year two full semesters of Fall/Spring or Spring/Fall.
Eligibility for Spouse/Domestic Partner Waiver Units 07, 08, 87, and 88 collective bargaining agreements state that an employee must be employed at least .50 FTE for their spouses and domestic partners to be eligible for an Employee Spouse/Domestic Partner tuition waiver. Graduate Assistants are not eligible for the Spouse/Domestic Partner Waiver.
Application Qualified employees who did not register for Spring courses need to submit a Credit Application Form. No Credit Application Form required.

Cost Administrative Fee. $180.50 per session (5-digit CRN). After the form is processed by the Cashier's office the fee can not be cancelled nor payment refunded.

Submit form, Form Processed, Submit Payment Form(s) cannot be processed through MyUH. Register, then submit certified waiver form(s) to Outreach College Cashier, Sinclair Library 301; or the UH Cashier's Office, QLCSS 105.
