Getting Started: An Introduction to Camera and Editing

Focus on production basics, from shooting to completion of a project.

The morning camera session focuses on the proper operation of the Panasonic AG-DVX100 Camcorder, special functions of the camcorder, basic 3-point lighting and picture composition.

The afternoon overview of digital editing includes importing footage, setting up preferences for a project and workspace, basic editing techniques, working with transitions and visual effects, and outputting to tape or DVD.

This intensive is primarily directed at ACM students and is a prerequisite for ACM 310.

Steve Szabo has worked in the film and video industry since 1990 as an editor, colorist, visual effects designer and more recently as a DVD/HD DVD author. His work experience includes several television series, scores of television commercials and a variety of other programs for many major clients. He is an Apple Certified Trainer in Final Cut Pro 6, Motion 3, DVD Studio Pro 4, Soundtrack Pro 2, and Final Cut Studio 2. He has received a number of awards for editing, effects, and DVD authoring. Szabo is the owner of Digital Edge Hawaii in Honolulu.

Gregg Ambrosius has worked in the video industry for over 35 years in various positions, including: director of photography, editor, producer, and director. His experience includes corporate, marketing, and commercial productions, with local and national video and film credits.
