For pre-med and medical students, pre-allied health professional students with advanced standing, or anyone with a bachelors degree in a health-related field and in need of a refresher, this one-day workshop emphasizes Motor and Sensory Systems. A diverse congress of UH faculty, professors, clinicians, orthopedic surgeons, kinesiologists, and instructors with specialized expertise in their area of instruction give compact presentations in pathoanatomy, physiology, biomechanics and sensory systems that utilize professionally dissected anatomical material at 16 diverse stations, through which small groups rotate.
Presentations include: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Elbow joint, Knee joint, Hip, Artificial Joints, Shoulder Impingement Syndrome, Rotator Cuff injury, Sciatica, Ankle joints, and Sensory Systems.
By the end of this course, participants are able to:
• better conduct a concise clinical examination and determine a precise diagnosis.
• effectively treat local soft tissue lesions through an accurate understanding of surface anatomy and tissue physiology.
• help restore normal mobility of the joint by means of specific treatment techniques based on up-to-date arthrokinematic studies.
Steven Labrash, LIcensed Funeral Director, Licensed Embalmer, Cypress Mortuary College, coordinates the John A. Burns School of Medicine Willed Body Program.
