For intermediate and advanced students who are already well-versed in techniques and materials of painting, the second week`s sessions focus on the development of a personal direction and the refinement of work. Students are encouraged to work in any medium and on any scale. Discussions, slides and videos aid in further exploration, while instruction is primarily one-on-one.

Materials for the second week of class will be decided by each student, but should include basic painting supplies (palette & palette knives, water containers, a good variety of brush sizes, etc.), at least one primed canvas or work in progress, and /or mixed media that you like (charcoal, pastels, ink, glue, etc.), paper towels (suggest Viva or Scott rag), combination lock for locker, and smock. (Or wear painting clothes.) If you buy supplies, save receipts in the event not everything is used.. If you have questions, contact Pia Stern, piastern@sbcglobal.net.
