PROGRAM

Kathy Collins is a storyteller, stage and film actress, radio and television personality, stand-up comedian, emcee, and dancer. With her pidgin-speaking alter ego Tita, she has told Hawaiian legends and Japanese folk tales across the state and the U.S. mainland and Canada, from the Hawaii Book & Music Festival to the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival in New York City. Her one-woman comedy shows at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center have consistently sold out, and she has opened for renowned comedians including Howie Mandel and Rita Rudner. She is also a newspaper columnist (The Maui News) and freelance writer. Commissioned by the Maui Academy of Performing Arts for its annual educational theatre tour, she has written and performed in three original plays for preschool – 5th grade, touching the hearts and minds of thousands of Maui children.
Kathy will tailor her telling of folk tales and legends to suit your audience: children, teens, or adults; pidgin or standard English; humorous, poignant, or scary; or any combination of the above.
