John Keawe is a native of the island of Hawaiʻi. He is a self-taught slack-key guitarist and has numerous recordings to his credit. John is a multiple Na Hōkū Hanohano and Hawaiʻi Music Awards recipient, as well as a contributing artist for Masters of Hawaiian Slack-Key Guitar – Vol. 1, which won the first Grammy Award for Best Hawaiian Music Album in 2005.
