Selections from the epic Hawaiian tale, Hi‘iakaikapoliopele, including when Pele meets the handsome Lohiau at Ha’ena and Hi’iakaʻs battle with two  mo’o in Ha’ena to claim the soul of Lohiau. Along the way there are tales related to surfing, using ti leaf stems for bones, and a valley with the blood of slaughtered spirits.
