Of Asian and Native Hawaiian ancestry, Nyla (Ching) Fujii-Babb has been a professional storyteller, artistic director, voiceover talent, producer, and actress for over 40 years in Hawai‘i and on the mainland. She has appeared on stage with Kumu Kahua Theatre Company, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Maui Arts and Cultural Center, the Hawai‘i Ponoi Coalition, The Aratani Japan-America Theatre in Los Angeles, and the Emerson Majestic Theatre in Boston. She has appeared in a few locally produced films and has been a voiceover talent for a number of Hawai‘i Public Television specials. She has been a featured teller at numerous mainland festivals including the Illinois Storytelling Festival, the St. Louis Storytelling Festival at the Arch, and the Bay Area Storytelling Festival in California. She was an “exchange place” and a “featured storyteller” at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee. She has performed as a live-stream actress for Kumu Kahua Theatre Company, the Hawai‘i Ponoi Coalition and for the University of Hawai‘i Outreach College’s SCEP online. 

Nyla is on the Board of Monkey Waterfall Dance Theatre Company. A retired librarian, she is also adjunct faculty for the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences.
