Dean’s Message
Aloha Kākou,
Outreach College at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is proud to continue serving our students and the community with a variety of programs. Our learning experiences touch the lives of more than 20,000 individuals with credit and not-for-credit classes, degree completion programs, language instruction, arts experiences, and conference services.
Many of these programs are done in concert with departments from every college at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Our partnerships resulted in more than 10 million dollars being returned to partner Colleges to support students, hire staff, pay for travel, and provide for other vital needs.
Summer Sessions provided more than $1,200,000 in scholarships, working with the Office of Financial Aid and advisors across campus to distribute scholarship funds to students in need. This assistance helps to keep students on track to finish their degree in a timely fashion with a minimal amount of debt.
It has been an exciting year, but not without its challenges. Whether it involves working with the Office of Faculty and Scholar Immigration Services to process visas for artists from Japan, developing a registration system for conferences, or providing courses to high school students for dual credit, our faculty and staff continually step up to the challenge.
I am honored to serve as Interim Dean for Outreach College and respect and appreciate the patience, hard work, excellence, and dedication that our faculty and staff invest in students, partner colleges, and community organizations.
Your future is our focus.
Tim Slaughter, Interim Dean
