Bachelor of Social Work – Distance Education Option

Asynchronous learning

Online courses on your schedule

The Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work is proud to offer the only Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Distance Education (DE) Option program in the state of Hawai‘i. The DE Option provides you the flexibility to pursue a degree in Social Work based on your location and schedule.

The BSW program is available on a part-time or full-time schedule to you once you have completed your General Education Core Requirements. You can complete the program while remaining in your home community (Hawai‘i, Moloka‘i, Kaua‘i, Maui, Lana‘i, or O‘ahu). Most classes are delivered asynchronously online and in a condensed 5-week format while the Field Education requirements are fulfilled in community agencies under certified social workers’ supervision. Once you complete the required course and fieldwork, you will be awarded a BSW degree from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

You will take courses within four sequences and complete field experiences for a total of 38 credits (see course listing below for details).
