About This Micro-Credential
Strengthen your ability to make meaningful, data-informed decisions in your classroom, school, or community. The Mixed-Methods Educational Research Micro-Credential equips educators with practical research skills that blend qualitative and quantitative approaches—grounded in Hawaiʻi’s unique cultural and educational contexts. You’ll learn how to design and conduct research that honors place-based perspectives while supporting evidence-based practice and educational equity across the islands.
Coursework
This micro-credential consists of two graduate-level courses (6 credits total), offered fully online and designed for working educators:
• EDCS 606 – Introduction to Research in Curriculum and Teaching
• EDCS 632 – Qualitative Research Methods
• Together, these courses provide a strong foundation in classroom-based, mixed-methods research with hands-on applications.

Your credits don’t stop here. The courses in this micro-credential apply directly to all Curriculum Studies Master’s degree tracks at UH Mānoa, fulfilling two required research methods courses. It’s a flexible way to start small while building toward a graduate degree. Acceptance into the micro-credential does not guarantee admission to a degree program.
