Summer Sessions at UH Mānoa are less hectic, with smaller class sizes and more opportunities for interaction with instructors and fellow classmates.
Medical Diagnosis & Treatment
July 10 – 14, 2023

If you are currently in grades 10-12 . . .
This week-long summer program provides an engaging learning opportunity for students interested in health professions. Through gross anatomy laboratory demonstrations, clinical skills laboratories, computerized manikin simulations and standardized patient interactions, students will learn how to:
- describe the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses common in Hawai‘i;
- perform basic clinical skills such as measuring vital signs and listening to the heart and lungs with stethoscopes; and
- interview and counsel patients.

Marine Science Investigations at the Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology
July 17 – 21, 2023, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This week-long summer program provides an engaging, hands-on learning opportunity for students interested in marine science research. Weather permitting, activities planned include a marine bioacoustics laboratory, sea urchin spawning and fertilization laboratory, ocean acidification laboratory, reef transects and data analyses, a science walking tour of the island and an in-water swim assessment.
The program will take place at the Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology at Moku o Lo‘e in Kāne‘ohe Bay, part of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology at UH Mānoa. Students will take a shuttle boat ride (approximately 3 minutes) from the Lilipuna Pier to Moku o Lo‘e (Coconut Island). This course is not graded and not for college credit. Join the Summer Scholar Program and earn college credits during six weeks in the summer. Upon acceptance to the program, qualified high school sophomores and juniors can register for University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Summer 2023 courses and experience the college environment while still in high school.
