This course introduces students to some of the major landmarks in the history of cinema. And it provides them with the theoretical resources necessary for conducting a rigorous analysis of the art of cinema.

In this course, students learn how to analyze films by attending to the different cinematic concepts employed by film directors. Students have the opportunity to study videos illustrating these different techniques, discuss how these concepts apply to the films we watch in class, and then compose film reviews based upon what they learn.
