About the Instructor
Bill Sharp, a Taiwan Fellow, completed two year-long research programs (2016 and 2020) in Taiwan sponsored by the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sharp was a columnist with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and wrote the column “Look East.” He was a former host of the TV show “Asia in Review” and author of Random Views of Asia from the Mid-Pacific.

A survey of Taiwan domestic issues and cross-strait relations. Special attention will be given to America’s relationship with Taiwan to include the Taiwan Relations Act and the policy of “strategic ambiguity.”
Course includes a variety of guest speakers who hold senior government positions in the discharge of US Taiwan policy.
