Summer Scholar Program Costs

Program participants are responsible for the tuition, fees and materials (e.g., textbooks, lab supplies) associated with their course(s). Resident tuition and fees for UH Mānoa undergraduate courses will apply.

Scholarships for Summer Scholar Program

A limited number of need-based scholarships may be available to Hawaiʻi high school students participating in the Summer Scholar Program. This $1,200 scholarship would be available to Hawaiʻi public school students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals and Hawaiʻi private school students who receive need-based financial aid from their high school. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and must be used toward tuition for a UH Mānoa Summer Sessions 2024 course.

Scholarship Application Instructions

Please check this webpage for an update on scholarship availability in January 2024.

1. Student applicant completes and submits the Summer Scholar Program Application for Scholarship, Part A. Because these scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, the Summer Scholar Program Application for Scholarship, Part A form will be date-stamped upon receipt to determine the order of applications received.

2. Student applicant completes Section I of the Summer Scholar Program Application for Scholarship, Part B.

3. Student applicant asks an authorized high school official to complete Section II of the Summer Scholar Program Application for Scholarship, Part B. This form verifies that the student applicant qualifies for this scholarship. Student applicant is responsible for ensuring the Summer Scholar Program Application for Scholarship, Part B is submitted to UH Mānoa Outreach College by April 15, 2024 via UH File Drop (www.hawaii.edu/filedrop), Recipient: sscholar@hawaii.edu. Note that both Part A and Part B of the Summer Scholar Program Application for Scholarship must be submitted in order for the scholarship application to be considered complete.
