Early Start Program
If you are currently in grade 12 and coming to UH Mānoa in Fall 2025, get an early start on your college experience with the Early Start Program. Ease in to college with one or two classes in the summer and take advantage of additional resources and activities designed specifically to make your transition from high school to college a smooth one.
The Early Start Advantage
ESP gives you a chance to register for high demand courses in the summer so you can fulfill basic requirements earlier and with the bonus of program staff to help you along the way. Interact with faculty and advisors who can help you navigate your academic career. Get to know your way around campus, including Mānoa’s libraries, recreational and health facilities, the Campus Center, and other student resources during weekly sessions led by student mentors.
Save Money
By taking courses during the summer, ESP students pay the prior academic year’s tuition rate. Out-of-state students pay resident tuition during the summer for an additional financial benefit.
Scholarships may be available for Pell-eligible students and would cover UH Mānoa Summer Session 2 tuition, term fees, and lab fees for one course, including a lab section, if applicable (this will amount to 3-5 credits per student).
Courses
As an ESP student, you can choose to take one or two credit courses during Summer Session 2 (July 7–August 14). One course is typically 3 credits.
The online application will be available in March 2025.
