For advanced planning, UH Mānoa offers this guaranteed, fully asynchronous course schedule that accommodates completion of general education asynchronously. These courses will be offered with at least 60 seats available in asynchronous format. Full schedule below:

2. Click in Campus and select University of Hawaii at Manoa
3. Click Advanced Search to expand options
4. Click in Instructional Methods and select Distance, Hybrid, or In Person
5. Click in Attribute and select a General Education designation you need (eg. Diversification: Arts)
6. Finally, click the Search button

The “Distance” filter includes both asynchronous and synchronous online courses. Search for courses in the student registration system.

Yes. Many GenEd courses are offered online, including asynchronous (no meeting times) and synchronous (scheduled live sessions) options . Students may complete some or all requirements online, depending on availability and academic planning.

Synchronous:
You attend live online sessions at scheduled days and times.

Asynchronous:
There are no required meeting times. You complete coursework within established deadlines on your own schedule .

 

UH Mānoa publishes a guaranteed schedule of fully asynchronous General Education courses each year.  

This allows students to plan ahead and complete GenEd requirements without time-of-day commitments.

The committed asynchronous schedule satisfies the HAP focus requirement and the maximum lower-division Writing Intensive allowance .
