Who is Eligible?

Students who were accepted to UH Mānoa for Fall 2024 are invited to participate in this program. Whether you attend UH Mānoa or another institution in the fall, we welcome you to join us this summer.

Class of 2024 Incoming UH Mānoa Freshmen

The Early Start Program has supported incoming UH Mānoa freshmen for more than 10 years. Get to know your new school’s campus and resources, as well as other students transitioning to college.

Scholarships: A limited number of need-based program scholarships may be available for incoming UH Mānoa Freshmen who are Pell-eligible. This scholarship covers UH Mānoa Summer Session 2 tuition, term fees, and lab fees for one course, including a lab section, if applicable. (This would amount to 3-5 credits per student.) Interested students must submit their online RSVP form by the priority deadline – May 15.

NEW! – Welcome to the Class of 2024!

As a benefit to applying and being admitted to UH Mānoa for Fall 2024, you are eligible to join the Early Start Program. Whether you will attend UH Mānoa in the fall or attend another institution, you can get an early start on earning college credits and transitioning to a college environment.

While every college is unique, there are many similarities among institutions of higher education. Meet other college-bound students and take advantage of your summer by starting to earn college credits.

A note about transfer credits: Your degree-granting institution (i.e., the college you will attend in the fall) would decide which college credits earned at UH Mānoa will be accepted to count towards your degree. Therefore, you will want to check with your college before you take a UH Mānoa summer course to make sure the credits earned will be accepted as transfer credits. Many (if not most) colleges accept credits for introductory level courses as transfer credits.

NEW! – Welcome to ALL Incoming UH Mānoa Students!

Will you be transferring to UH Mānoa this fall? The Early Start Program supports students with their transition to UH Mānoa while they start earning credits during the summer. Meet other students and get to know the campus, including Mānoa’s libraries, recreational and health facilities, Campus Center, and other student resources and be better prepared for your fall semester of college!

Scholarships: A limited number of need-based program scholarships may be available for incoming UH Mānoa transfer students who are Pell-eligible. This scholarship covers UH Mānoa Summer Session 2 tuition, term fees, and lab fees for one course, including a lab section, if applicable. (This would amount to 3-5 credits per student.) Interested students must submit their online RSVP form by the priority deadline – May 15.

Note: Some activities may be less relevant for experienced college students as the majority of participants are first-time college freshmen.
